Shomei Tomatsu: Skin of the Nation
In 1960 photographer Shomei Tomatsu was able to photograph the survivors of the atomic bombing in 1945. The above images from the 'Skin of the Nation' exhibition are able to show different textures of skin as a result of the injures. In the photograph of the man, the stretching of the skin is able to create an interesting texture, which could be represented in design through the fabric chose.
Arthur Renwick
"Arthur Renwick is an artist, musician and scholar."
From the above photograph you are able to see the new creases and textures that Arthur has been able to create in his work. I feel that his work is relevant as you can see how the skin can be changed and moved to create a new texture to touch.
