Inspirational Designers

Kosuke Tsumura

This is designer for the final home brand of urban survival clothing. The garment above was designed and created on request of the worlds largest cola cartel. It was made by slicing up PET bottles and sewing them together with transparent thread.

I feel that the use of the strong plastic could be used in my design process, as it would be able to create shapes that can be identified through touch.
Skin as a form of Inspiration
Simon Berg

In his work he has used the human body as his main focus. The skin is able to create a texture to look at on the T-shirt it has also been able to create the colours.

Deepa panchamia

“I have taken an unconventional approach to textiles. Combining silk organzas and leathers with inventive pleating techniques, I create intense, double-sided, structural surfaces. The combination of transparency and solidity give my fabric enhanced properties allowing it to be moulded, manipulated and transformed – moving textiles away from its traditional two-dimensional form.”

I like Deepa's work because it is able to create unique work with a great amount of texture. The detail in her work is able to create something inventive using the technique of pleating with different techniques.

Jolis Paons

The dress which made from a phone book is interesting because of its print. I could use this by printing an image from by theme not onto paper but simple plain fabric.

Sleep Suit By Forrest Jesse

The sleep suit is able to show a large amount of texture which is able to act like a barrier as it is considered as a sleep suit.

The sleep suit is also able to create many layers creating padding around the body.

VIKTOR & ROLF
LAYERS

The layers in this collection is able to make unusual and intriguing designs. The amount of fabric which is used to create the garments are able to add volume.

The ruffles in the above garment are able to create layers which can link the the concept of skin and its many layers which i am looking to experiment with when designing.

VIKTOR & ROLF - MASKS
In my research i have looked at protection and i am yet to develop it through my designs. The work of Vikor & Rolf in the below images show that they have covered the faces of the models, i feel this could relate to my concept of protection later on in the design process.
