“The Birds”

Alfred Hitchcock’s

I have chosen this film as I feel that it has many underlying themes which can be researched and developed. I think that the film was able to portray a tense atmosphere and emotion which I would like to keep throughout this design project, as it will add to both my research and design work.


                         Research

Through my research I aim to get as much from the film “The birds”. I will look into themes from the film which I feel I will be able to expand on to gain the most ideas. I will look into different imagery, techniques and methods, fabrics and ways of design. Developing this into two complete collections (men’s and women’s wear).

Experimentation work

I have started to develop my ideas from my research, by experimenting with them. I have done this so that I am able to see what work well with the body and the fabric that I intend to design with. Through this book I will start to gain some initial ideas for the design process, gaining ideas as I go along.

Through this project i have been able to develop many techniques such as pattern cutting. Gaining a better knowledge and understanding of how a garment can be constructed in a more unique way.

I have also been able to develop my research skills. As I feel that throughout this project i have been able to start from one concept BRAILLE and expand it to create new and exciting concepts which have been involved in my design process.

I have really enjoyed being able to work as a group. As this has meant that more ideas have been put forward, meaning that we have been able to included new concepts in our final design, as everyone’s theme is included.
